Story of Kensalt
STORY OF KENSALT
Kensalt was a Parastatal Corporation, until it was privatised. Post privatisation, the current promoters have invested heavily in capacity building, technology and product innovation. The vision remains to continue to foster enhanced and further development at Kensalt, both in the salt and non salt industries.
Kensalt controls close to 90% of local market and above 50% of export market in the EAC.
In 2012 the company introduced a Film (Plastic) division for making packing materials as a backward integration.
In 2014 the company commenced construction of a new factory for making Pure Vacuum Dried Salt using a different technology.
The PVD factory has commenced operation from April 2015. It is probably only the third Pure Vacuum Dried Salt factory in Africa.
